One of my favorite classes at the Academy was figure drawing, and this photo reproduction was a homework assignment that I spent over 30 hours to complete.  It’s a very patient process to reproduce a photo, and the closer to perfect you want to get it, the longer and more painstaking the process will be.  The results are always worth the effort however.

This was a student piece for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.  It’s a page layout, so that white box is supposed to be where the text of the story would go.  Although it looks fairly finished, this was only a color study in the class; the teacher had forgotten to assign an actual finished page!  So, I never put together a finished page, but I enjoyed working with watercolor so much that I’d probably be tempted to create the finished versions some day when I have time (or financing!).
